Here is a Yummy Yummy Baby recipe for Coconut Milk Baby Formula:

3 Cups of home-made Coconut Milk (Its easy after you do it once)
1 Tbsp Unsweetened, Rice protein or Pea protein (we prefer Rice protein)
1 1/2 Tbsp of Grade B Maple Syrup
1 tsp Calcium Lactate Powder
2 tsp of Infant Probiotic powder (we use Klaire Infant Probiotics)
2 tsp Liquid Omega 3 DHA
2 tsp of Extra Virgin, Unrefined, Cold-Pressed Coconut Oil
4 Cups of very good quality water

*Optional 1/4 ripe banana

Combine all of the ingredients in a Large Cup Nutribullet and blend (you may have to split it in two depending on the size of your Nutribullet, Vitamix, Ninja, etc…  Refrigerate immediately and use within 48 hours.
The formula will separate from the oils, so please shake before pouring into a bottle or cup and gently warm for baby.

***We later discovered a formula we felt was not perfect, but pretty wonderful. It is a great supplement once your baby is a Toddler.  The Name is Toddler Supreme by Peaceful Planet.

Please understand that I am not saying that Coconut Milk or other milk alternatives replace a Mother’s milk, I am saying you can create a safe alternative if Mother’s Milk is not a viable choice. Most of all, I am saying that Mother’s milk is a life force that can not be replicated by cows, goats or factories.  It is the sweetest milk I have ever tasted, yes… I tasted it… and it is so understandable why babies prefer it, thrive the best on it and receive so many healing properties.

* Next up… How to make Coconut Milk!  Mmm! Yummy Yummy Baby!

    • Yes, like most liquids it is possible to freeze coconut milk.
However, when coconut milk is frozen, there will be a change of texture to the liquid. While it is still perfectly safe to consume coconut milk that has been frozen, this major textural change must be taken into consideration, as it may affect the outcome of your final product and how it tastes…
Thawing coconut milk takes a long time – probably a significant amount more than you might expect. If you plan to use this formula, ideally you should move it from the freezer to the refrigerator several days in advance. While many frozen liquids will melt after spending a day in the fridge, frozen coconut milk will still be frozen solid at this point.
Freezing coconut milk is simple – just place the unused milk in an airtight container, such as a storage container with a lid.
Another option is to pour the coconut milk into an ice cube tray. Once frozen, you can remove the cubes and place them in a sealed container. Each cube is approximately 1 ounce of liquid. This is a great option if you typically use small quantities of coconut milk.
I can not recall freezing our coconut milk formula, but in a pinch or for travel, it may be worth a try…

Hi , can you use canned coconut milk and if so what would you recommend? Could you give the name of the name brands you used for the rest of the receipe like the lactate powder and omega 3 dha , I was also wondering how many ounces does this make and how many times a day did you get it when also breastfeeding?

    • Hello Angela,

Thank you so much for your awesome question!

It is always best to consult with your local Nutritionist and/or Doctor regarding your child’s specific needs and allergies. Our family uses Baby’s DHA by Nordic Naturals. Modernist Pantry Pure Calcium Lactate is a good Vegan source that is Non GMO.
We fed our babies on demand… if he was still hungry after giving him my breast milk then this is what we would supplement with. Please consult with your health care professional to determine the ounces he requires per day, according to his particular size, weight, age.
